Need a California-licensed accompanying driver for the DMV test?
If you already have a test-ready vehicle but need a licensed California driver to meet DMV requirements, CarForDMV can help coordinate an accompanying driver service. Message CarForDMV with your DMV location and appointment time.
Which option is right for me?
CarForDMV offers two levels of support. The best choice depends on how recently you’ve been driving and how comfortable you are with California traffic patterns and DMV expectations.
Choose “Test-Day Vehicle Only” if:
- You drive regularly and feel comfortable with turns, lane changes, and parking maneuvers.
- You mainly need a compliant vehicle, proper paperwork, and a quick pre-test orientation.
- You are confident adapting to a different car without additional practice.
Choose “Vehicle + Practice Session” if:
- You haven’t driven recently, or you’re new to U.S. road rules.
- You have overseas driving experience but want to warm up for California right-of-way habits.
- You want time to get comfortable in the vehicle before the examiner begins the test.
Still unsure? Message CarForDMV and tell us where you’re testing and your appointment time.

What if the DMV refuses the test?
DMV examiners may refuse a test due to permit status, documentation issues, or examiner discretion. If the refusal is caused by our vehicle or paperwork, CarForDMV will work with you to reschedule. If the refusal is unrelated to the vehicle, standard cancellation terms apply.
Cancellation & rescheduling
Cancellations include a $70 processing fee. Cancellations within 48 hours, no-shows, or DMV refusals not caused by our vehicle are non-refundable.
If you need to reschedule, contact CarForDMV as soon as you have a new DMV appointment time.
